How to Calculate Fees Payable

1. Rebates or exemptions

Eligible pensioners receive a rebate on the registration fee component.
See Appendix B - Vehicle Registration rebates and Exemptions

2. Registration Fee (plus Fire Levy if applicable)

Motor Car, Truck

$61.15+ $15.00 = $76.15 Normal Rate
$31.90+ $10.00 = $41.90 Pensioner Rate

Motorcycle

$61.15 Normal Rate
$30.55 Pensioner rate

3. Motor Tax

Vehicles receive a fifty percent rebate on the payment of Motor Tax.

4. MAIB

Determine the MAIB Premium Paid (which includes the Premium Paid Duty) from the MAIB Vehicle and Premiums Classifications, (refer to the MAIB Vehicle and Premiums Classifications Card).

5. Inspection Fees for Registration

Normal inspection fees apply

6. Registration Plate Fee

Include the Registration Plate Fee for new registrations or if the vehicle is to be re-registered.  Standard Plates are $15.25 for motor cycles and $17.95 for motor cars, trucks etc.

7. Duty

Duty is unique to each vehicle and is calculated on its market value or sale price, whichever the greater. Applicable only for registration issue and re-issue (Special interest registration is not transferable) (see P45 Appendix A, Duty Rates)
