Mud Walls Secondary Road Reinstatement

Background

The Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources has commenced planning to improve the surface of a 10.2km section of road at the northern end of Mud Wall  Secondary Road, extending north from the railway crossing near Wallaby Rivulet culvert to Ringwood Creek culvert.

Funding

$8m under the State Government Community Roads Program.

The Proposed Works

The project will result in safer travel, an improved pavement surface and better drainage to protect the road through this section.  The works are confined to the current road alignment and are designed to be completed in two sections. This matches the previous reinstatement and safety works along Mud Walls Road, invested in by the State Government since 2004.

Section 1: Railway Crossing at Colebrook to Lovely Banks Junction

  • Improvements to drainage
  • Road pavement and sealing works (no widening) on this 2.5kms section of road
Section 2: Lovely Banks Junction to Ringwood Creek Culvert
  • Improvements to drainage
  • Full reinstatement works on this 7.7km section of road, including widening and improvements to the shoulders and verge.

Heritage and environment values will be carefully considered before works commence and managed during construction.

Timing

The project is scheduled to be tendered in late 2011 depending on approvals being obtained to meet that timeframe.
