Project 2 - Bishopsbourne Road to Wickford Road Improvements
Purpose
- To improve the standard of this section of road and sight distance for users.
Safety Benefits
- Improved curves and road levels;
- Widened and sealed shoulder;
- Improved sight distance to accesses.

Road User Benefits
- Improved ride quality;
- Consistent standard along Illawarra Main Road;
- Construction of a stock underpass to reduce delays due to stock crossing.
Current Status
The contract for construction has been awarded to Tasmanian based company Downer EDI Works Pty Ltd.
Additional road resurfacing works will commence in February 2012, along this section of Illawarra Main Road. It is anticipated these works will be completed by the end of April 2012, weather permitting.
Springfield to Forest Lodge - Pavement Rehabilitation and Shoulder Sealing
Projects 1 and 2 have come in under budget (original budget was $6.2 million) and the savings are being used to upgrade this section of the road.
It is anticipated works will commence in early 2012 and be completed by the end of March 2012.
