Getting a licence back after a period of suspension
When your licence is suspended you will receive information from the Registrar of Motor Vehicles (you need to ensure we have your correct postal address), advising you of when your suspension period starts and what you need to do when the suspension period finishes - see below;
Full Licence holders will be sent their surrended licance in the mail prior to the suspension finishing, however you are still unable to drive until after midnight on the date the suspension finishes. You will only receive your licence back if you surrendered it and we have your current postal address. If you don't receive your licence, the following business day after the suspension has ended you must visit a Service Tasmania shop or designated Police Station to apply for a duplicate licence. You must provide full Evidence of Identity and pay the duplicate licence fee.
Provisional or Learner Licence holders will not receive their surrendered licence in the mail as the provisional licence dates or earliest assessment dates (for learners) will change. The following business day after the suspension has ended you must visit a Service Tasmania shop or designated Police Station to apply for a duplicate licence. You must provide full Evidence of Identity and pay the duplicate licence fee.
Information is available regarding Period of Good Behaviour.
