Interpreter Service
For customers having difficulty understanding English, arrangements can be made to have an interpreter present for knowledge and practical tests.
Service Tasmania shops or the Registration and Licensing Branch will make an appointment with the Interpreter Service and make any necessary test bookings and advise the applicant of the date and time.
Appointments for the Service must be made at least two weeks before the date of the knowledge and practical tests.
The cost of an interpreter is met by the Registration and Licensing Branch.
Ample notice of an inability to attend is necessary otherwise the cost of the interpreter may be recovered from the customer.
To arrange for an interpreter Service Tasmania shops will:
- send the Interpreter Service request form by fax to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs on (03) 94840296 or (03) 94801515 or
- telephone the Translating and Interpreter Service on 131 450
