Photo Kits

Description

Tasmanian licences have an identification photograph which is taken at the time of licence renewal.  There are times when customers cannot attend Service Tasmania shops or designated police stations to have their photograph taken.
A photo kit allows customers to arrange for a photograph to be taken and submitted for inclusion on their licence.
Customers can use a photo kit if they are temporarily out of the State or country and wish to renew their licence or obtain a duplicate licence.
The customer or an immediate family member may lodge the initial request for a photo kit. The length of licence renewal varies depending on where the customer is:

  • interstate - one year
  • overseas - up to two years
  • a senior - over 65 years
  • serving with the armed forces or their immediate family members - 5 years.

Customer provides

The customer needs to undertake the following through Service Tasmania shops or designated police stations.

Requesting initial photo kit

  • full name and date of birth
  • a Tasmanian residential address
  • an address to which correspondence can be directed
  • a contact telephone number if possible.

Renewing or obtaining a duplicate licence

  • two passport-type photos-  with their identification verified on the back by a valid witness.
  • A valid witness must be one of the following:
  • any legal qualified medical practitioner; registered nurse; member of the police; minister of religion; teacher or principal; Commisioner of Declarations; Justice of the Peace, manager of a bank, postmaster or any person in charge of a post office or an accredited diplomatic officer from an Australian Embassy or Counsul.
  • All fees must be paid by either bank cheque, (not personal), money order ($AUD) or via credit card (BankCard, Visa or MasterCard).

Customer receives

The customer will receive the following.

Requesting initial photo kit

  • renewal notice (data card) or application for  duplicate licence
  • photo licence kit form
  • plastic wallet.

Renewing or obtaining a duplicate licence

  • photo licence through the mail
  • X condition attachment if applicable
  • receipt for fees paid if applicable.

Payment

The customer needs to pay:
