Auction Requirements

Requirements for the Registration of Vehicles Sold at Auction


Invoice/Receipt

Must be issued by either an:

  • Auction House;
  • Auction Group; or
  • Auto Wholesaler
Description of Vehicle The receipt must show the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Chassis Number of the vehicle or sufficient detail that proves that it is the same vehicle (e.g. registration number, engine number, make, model, colour, year etc)
Registration Plates If the vehicle record on the MRS shows that the plates have not been returned and the client does not have the registration plates they are to complete a Statutory Declaration stating that the vehicle was purchased without registration plates attached.
Damage

If the receipt states that the vehicle was sold in a damaged condition or as a total loss and it has not been recorded on the MRS as written off please phone the contact officer in the Written-Off Vehicle Re-Registering Quest File.

Note: Details recorded on the invoice/receipt must match those details recorded on the inspection form.
