Description

All registered vehicles now require a garage address which must be Tasmanian.
The garage address may be different from the registered operator's residential address and cannot be a post office box address. The garage address is unique to each vehicle and different criteria apply for light and heavy vehicles.

Light vehicles

The garage address is: the place where the vehicle is normally kept.

Heavy vehicles

The garage address is: the principal depot or base of operations of the vehicle.

Providing evidence of your garage address

For various transactions such as registration of a motor vehicle evidence of your garage address may be required.

Changing a garage address

To change a garage address fill in the nomination of garage address form and lodge at Service Tasmania shops.
Evidence of the new garage address will be required for each vehicle.

Note: By changing a residential or postal address the garage address will not be changed. Registered operators must specifically apply for a change in garage address for a vehicle.
