Yellow Line Markings Trial
Follow the yellow-lined road
When travelling the Midland Highway you may notice some new yellow line markings as part of the Epping Forest to Powranna project.
The Department of State Growth is trialling the yellow line markings, which will guide road users through the new lane arrangements and advise them that they are travelling through a construction site.
This trial is a first for Tasmania.
Roadworks usually involve the removal of the permanent white lines, which can leave shadow lines on the road and confuse road users.
Yellow line markings signal the current lane arrangements and improve visibility for road users – particularly at night.
The implementation of yellow line markings also reduces lane closures during the construction period.
Roadside signage alerts road users of upcoming yellow line markings on the road.
