Bass Highway east of Hagley Station Lane

The Tasmanian Government has committed funding to upgrade the Bass Highway on a 600 metre section of road, east of Hagley Station Lane.

Why is the Department of State Growth doing work on this road

The key objective of this project is to improve and strengthen the condition of the road surface by removing the existing road surface and replacing this with a new surface.

Construction commenced in September 2017 and is anticipated to be completed by the end of December 2017, weather permitting.

The existing truck pull-over area near the road works site will not be accessible to vehicles throughout construction.  This is necessary for the safety of all workers and road users. It will be re-opened at the completion of works.

The road works will be performed under an approved Traffic Management Plan by the contractor Shaw Contracting (Aust) Pty Ltd to ensure the least possible disruption to road users.  Speed restrictions and altered traffic conditions will be in place throughout the construction period to ensure a safe work place for construction staff.

Delays to the travelling public can be expected in the vicinity of the construction works for the duration of the project.  Please obey all signs and allow sufficient time for travelling through these work areas.
