Channel Highway North of Margate Right Turn Facility
The Department of State Growth is undertaking safety improvements on the Channel Highway, north of Margate. The work will involve widening the northbound lane for approximately 300 metres, adjacent to the access to property numbers 1511, 1521 and 1531 Channel Highway.
The site is located on the Channel Highway, approximately 2 kilometres north of the township of Margate.
Why is the Department of State Growth doing work on this road?
The work will provide safer turning movements for vehicles wanting to turn right into three accesses off the Channel Highway. This will also allow straight ahead traffic to be able to safely manoeuvre past vehicles waiting to turn right.
The project is currently out to tender. Construction is programmed to commence this summer construction season 2017/18.
The road works will be performed under an approved Traffic Management Plan by the Contractor to ensure the least possible disruption to road users. However, delays to the travelling public can be expected at times in the vicinity of the construction works.
Reduced speed limits at the work site are necessary for the safety of workers and the travelling public, so please slow down, approach the work site with caution and follow all traffic control instructions.
