Illawarra Road - west of Bishopsbourne Road
The Tasmanian Government has committed funding to upgrade Illawarra Road on a 1.5 km section of road west of Bishopsbourne Road. The works will involve removing the existing road surface and replacing this with a new surface which will strengthen and improve the condition of the road.
Why is the Department of State Growth doing work on this road?
The key objective of this project is to improve the condition of the road surface by addressing the identified pavement issues.
Road works are programmed to commence in November 2017 and are anticipated to be completed by early April 2018, weather permitting.
The road works will be performed under an approved Traffic Management Plan by the contractor Shaw Contracting (Aust) Pty Ltd to ensure the least possible disruption to road users. Speed restrictions and altered traffic conditions will be in place throughout the construction period to ensure a safe work place for construction staff.
Delays to the travelling public can be expected in the vicinity of the construction works for the duration of the project. Please obey all signs and allow sufficient time for travelling through these work areas.
