Why is the Department doing work on this road?
These works will upgrade this portion of Main Street to State Road Standards and includes an upgrade of the Main Street and Emily Street junction. Works include road widening, improved pavement and installation of kerb and channel.
The Department of State Growth awarded this contract to Tasmanian based contractor Shaw Contracting (Aust) Pty Ltd. Works commenced in August 2016 and are nearing completion.
Your safety and the safety of our contractor is important to us. During these road works it is important that drivers follow any traffic signs and drive at the posted speed limits set by the contractor within the work zone.
