Why is the Department of State Growth doing work on this road?
This project is part of a Departmental strategy to strengthen bridges on key freight roads in Tasmania to retain the existing High Productivity Vehicle (HPV) and High Mass Limit (HML) approved roads as strategic freight routes.
The existing bridge was constructed in 1940 and was identified as a high priority for upgrade or replacement as required to meet the future increase in heavy vehicle tasks.
This project is currently in the planning and design phase. Construction is expected to commence in late-2017.
