Southern Integrated Transport Plan
|
The Southern Integrated Transport Plan is a joint initiative under the Southern Partnership Agreement. The Plan is being developed on a cooperative basis between the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources (DIER), the Southern Tasmanian Councils Authority (STCA) and the 12 Southern Councils. The plan aims to provide a strategic and coordinated framework for planning and managing the region's transport system over the next 20 years. The plan does not attempt to address all transport issues facing the region. Instead, it focuses on key, strategic issues, the resolution of which will provide the greatest long-term benefits for the region. To date, two key reports have been prepared. The reports provide information and analysis to better understand the Region's transport and planning system; identify key regional issues; and assist in developing the objectives and strategies that will form the basis of the Plan. Both Reports were prepared with input from State and local government. The reports will provide background to key stakeholders as part of the consultation process for the Plan. Representatives, from State and Local Government and key stakeholders identified regional transport planning issues across the strategic policy areas of planning, safety, people, freight, infrastructure and environment.
