The configuration of a vehicle may be changed, for example from a rigid truck to a Prime mover, by the owner or representative of the owner of the vehicle by request. Modifications such as campervans increased GVM's will require inspection.

In the following instances the request should be referred to the Senior Technical Officer, Vehicle Standards for resolution:

• If the vehicle is being changed to a Prime mover or to a combination of truck and trailer and there is no GCM recorded on the Database,
• Where the owner requires an increase in GCM or GVM above that listed on the Database,
• Where the vehicle has been modified to increase or decrease it's GVM or GCM,
• Where a person requests that a vehicle be re-classified as a Special Purpose Vehicle

A vehicle inspection may be required.
