It has been necessary to reduce or suspend some services. More information can be found on this page Limited and suspended services.

Driver Licensing - BPAY / Electronic Payment

BPAY is now available as an option for driver licence renewals.

BPAY details will be printed on the renewal forms sent to drivers whose licences are due for renewal in June 2020 and after.

People whose licences are due for renewal before June 2020 may contact Service Tasmania on 1300 135 513 or email State Growth on tes@stategrowth.tas.gov.au to obtain BPAY details.

Support Drivers with Medical Conditions

In most cases, the requirement for a medical fitness to drive assessment will be extended by six months.

State Growth will contact you if we still need you to fulfil this obligation during this time.

State Growth has a web form to allow drivers to tell us about new medical conditions.

New to Tasmania - licence holders

New Tasmanian residents with a driver licence from interstate, New Zealand, or overseas (where they have been granted permanent residence) can apply to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles for an extension to the usual three month period they have to transfer their driver licence to a Tasmanian one.

See here for more information and details on how to apply.

Supporting Businesses

To support significantly impacted Tasmanian small businesses, $9.75 million in business vehicle registration savings and deferrals is available under the Business vehicle relief package.
