Night works with a lane closure will take place on the East Derwent Highway at Geilston bay in the coming days.

We are doing night works on Derwent Avenue, Geilston Bay near the intersection with East Derwent Highway from Sunday, 24 October 2021 to Friday, 29 October 2021.

One lane in Derwent Avenue will be closed during our working hours, from 6:30 pm to 6:00 am. The works will not affect East Derwent Highway.

Please allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time during this work.

These works are being done as part of the duplication of East Derwent Highway between Sugarloaf Road and Geilston Bay Road.

Also as part of this project, Debomfords Lane will be closed permanently at the intersection with the East Derwent Highway from about 7:30 am on Monday, 25 October 2021. Debomfords Lane will become a cul-de-sac and all traffic to and from the highway will need to travel via Geilston Bay Road and new side roads.

This change is part of safety improvements to the East Derwent Highway’s intersection with Clinton Road and Geilston Bay Road, which include the new traffic signals and realigning Dumbarton Drive and Clinton Road.

The intersection will also provide access to a new, safer alternative route to the Lindisfarne North Primary School for those travelling from the north.

We will try to minimise noise during the nightworks by completing noisier activities before 10:00 pm and turning off machinery and vehicles when not in use.

Please follow the speed limits and the directions of traffic controllers.

We recognise these works will cause some inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
