More improvements to Launceston’s bus services are coming in July following the launch of the enhanced network in January.

The Launceston network enhancements were designed to ensure bus services across the region meet the needs of local communities and we have been monitoring the network’s performance since they began.

Based on feedback received since January we have identified further improvements to services across Evandale, the east coast and in Summerhill/West Launceston and South Launceston with new routes and timetables commencing on Sunday 5 July 2020.

As part of these latest improvements, the Summerhill to Launceston service (route 165) will now travel via the Launceston General Hospital on Charles Street in order to better connect the community to health care services.

There will also be a trial of increased bus frequency on the South Launceston to Launceston service (route 147) providing better access for Normanstone Road and Kings Meadows West residents and more options on the Kings Meadows turn up and go corridor.

The trial services on the Waverley to Mowbray service (route 122) and the North Riverside to Launceston City service (route 151) will also be extended until January 2022 so we can better evaluate usage levels post-COVID-19.

There will also be a new weekday trial service to provide coverage to the hilly parts of Trevallyn including Reatta Rd, New World Ave, Dandenong Rd and Delungra Rd. The service will operate on weekdays with a mid-morning service from Trevallyn to Launceston City and a return service in the afternoon around 2:30pm. This will allow residents adequate time in the CBD to do shopping and go to appointments.

In addition to new services already running from Cressy, Longford and Perth, there will be an additional weekday service from Launceston to Evandale in the afternoon allowing Evandale residents more options if using the bus to visit the city.

The east coast will see three new Saturday services, two between St Marys and Bicheno, one in the morning and one in the evening, and one between Coles Bay and Bicheno in the late evening. The Bicheno to St Marys (route 742) weekday school holiday service will also depart later at 5:00pm to align with the school term service.
