Buses moving forward in Northern Tasmania

New plans for a reinvigorated and smarter bus network in northern Tasmania are in motion following a comprehensive public consultation period.

Members of the community and stakeholders have provided valuable feedback which included 388 responses to the proposed changes to the northern region general access bus network.

Overall the consultation confirmed that we are heading in the right direction and the new service offerings will have a very positive impact for communities.

We have listened to the feedback and are making some changes to refine routes and timetables to best meet community needs.

A number of new 12 month trial services will be implemented in Riverside/Trevallyn and Waverley/Ravenswood to address concerns raised through the consultation process.

Other changes resulting from community feedback include route changes in Legana, adjustments to the timing of services in West Tamar towns and Legana, and timetable changes for Evandale.

These updates achieve the right balance of smart route design and reducing travel times while ensuring the services remain accessible and meet a broad range of transport needs.

New timetables and maps are expected to be available in early December 2019 to allow plenty of time for travellers to be informed before the changes take place in January 2020.
