You have the option to proceed under the current licensing system and existing pre-provisional course to obtain your licence, up until your learners licence expires, however you are strongly encouraged to undertake new additional training and progress through the new pathway to obtain a P1 licence.

The new pathway consists of a new ‘Bridging Course’ which will give you additional safety and skills training and will expand on the training you received in the existing pre-learner course and will involve strategies for safe riding, a simulated road ride (off-road) and an on-road coaching and mentoring session.

The new ‘Bridging Course’ will also assist you in undertaking the new Check Ride and pre-provisional test arrangements.

You must wait a minimum of 28 days from when you complete the bridging course to participating in the check ride and a further 28 days from completing the check ride to participating in the pre-provisional test.

The new check ride is a coaching and mentoring session to check on your progress from what you learn in the new ‘Bridging Course’ and is also the precursor to assist you in undertaking the new one-on-one pre-provisional test.

To book a course, book online at AJL Training Pty Ltd.

If you require further information on these changes email MLTA@stategrowth.tas.gov.au.

If expired, see renewing your licence.
