How did the community find out about the change?

A communication strategy commenced on the 27 January 2015, to alert motorists to the upcoming changes and to highlight the importance of driver supervision.

The communication strategy aims to educate driving instructors and supervisory drivers to assist in delivering the safety message and to properly prepare novice drivers to adjust to the speed limit changes.  The strategy included;

  • writing directly to novice licence holders and key industry stakeholders
  • brochures and posters displayed in Service Tasmania shops
  • brochures handed to all L2 and P1 driving assessment applicants by Driving Assessors
  • website including questions and answers; and
  • media advertisements
