George Town to Launceston

Proposed Route Change

  • The route will be similar to the existing route, however all services will travel via the Mowbray corridor rather than via the East Tamar Hwy through Launceston.
  • George Town services will pick up and drop off passengers on the Mowbray corridor, using Metro stops.
George Town services will supplement the Mowbray corridor and play a key role in increasing capacity on the ‘turn up and go’ corridor during morning and afternoon peak times.
  • George Town services will start and finish at St John Street, as opposed to Brisbane St. This means that northern suburbs services will all depart and finish at the same stops, which is more convenient for all passengers.

Proposed Frequency Change

George Town:

  • Slight increase in frequency from 10 to 14 services on weekdays.
  • Slight increase in frequency on Saturdays from four to six services a day.
  • Provision of six new Sunday services.

Low Head:

  • Low Head will be serviced by six services per weekday. Currently Low Head is serviced on demand, which means passengers have to ring up and book a service, which creates uncertainty.
  • There will be a daily return on Saturday and a new daily return on Sunday.

Dilston:

  • Dilston will be serviced by four services per weekday. Currently Dilston is serviced on demand, which means passengers have to ring up and book a service which creates uncertainty.
  • There will be a daily return on Saturday and a new daily return on Sunday.
