Electronic ticketing

Some bus service operators provide the option of using a Greencard or Smart Card to pay your fare, instead of paying by cash. This is called electronic ticketing.

How it works

If you travel on a bus service that uses an electronic ticketing machine, you can pay your fare by using a Greencard or Smart Card.

Your Greencard / Smart Card has an electronic ‘purse’. This means you can add money to the card, and your fare will be deducted when you use the card on the bus.  You can top up the balance of your card with additional funds, by contacting your bus service operator.

Students will receive a 20% discount on the standard student fare when you use your Greencard / Smart Card on the bus.  The maximum fare deducted from your card will be $1.44 per trip.
