Student bus services
There are two types of Government-funded student bus services – fare charging and free.
Fare charging services
Students are required to pay a fare on bus services that travel to or from an urban or town area, or wholly within an urban or town area.
To access a discounted fare, students can present either a Greencard / Smart Card, or a 10-ride ticket, which are available by contacting their bus service operator.
If you would like to view the urban boundaries in Tasmania, please refer to the Urban area maps.
Free bus services
Student bus services that operate wholly outside of an urban or town area, and travel to the local home area school, do not charge a fare. These services are available to child students only.
Students do not need to present a bus pass or pay a fare to travel on this type of bus service.
