West Tamar Highway - Launceston to Legana - Corridor Study
We are currently finalising our corridor study of the West Tamar Highway between the Launceston CBD and McEwans Road, north of Legana.
This study will help find ways to improve the safety and connectivity between West Tamar communities and Launceston for all types of transport.
This project supports the Tasmanian Government’s Launceston and Tamar Valley Traffic Vision, which aims to address traffic congestion and improve safety and travel time reliability on the Launceston and Tamar Valley road network.
The Tasmanian Government has also constructed $1.5 million of cycling facilities between Launceston and Legana. This has included resealing and widening of road shoulders to provide an improved surface for cyclists.
We are asking the community to provide feedback on the West Tamar Highway improvement opportunities.
This feedback will be used to inform the final Corridor Improvement Plan and to prioritise future projects.
To provide your feedback please visit our online interactive map.
You can also view the proposed improvements at the West Tamar Council – Riverside office at 2-4 Eden Street, Riverside during business hours.
Consultation will close on 18 August 2021, at 5:00pm.
The community consultation period will be open from 21 July 2021, to 18 August 2021.
The Community Consultation Summary and Corridor Improvement Plan will be released in October 2021.
