West Tamar Highway - Launceston to Legana - Corridor Study
We are doing a corridor study of the West Tamar Highway between the Launceston CBD and McEwans Road, north of Legana.
The West Tamar Highway Corridor Study will help to inform the feasibility study for the New Tamar River Crossing. It will also be used to identify options to improve the safety and connectivity between West Tamar communities and Launceston for all transport modes.
The information gathered will help us prepare future plans for the identified options, and to itemise and prioritise them for funding approval.
The project supports the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to Launceston and Tamar Valley Traffic Management. This aims to address congestion and improve safety and travel time reliability on the Launceston and Tamar Valley road network.
We asked the community to tell us about areas for improvement, highlight safety concerns and make suggestions about how and where changes could be made. Consultation closed on Friday, 8 May.
We’re reviewing the feedback collected during the consultation. It will be used to help us to develop a corridor improvement plan for this section of the West Tamar Highway, and to prioritise projects.
View feedback left during the consultation period on our online interactive map.
