About the project

We will be strengthening of Kanunnah Bridge, which crosses the Arthur River on Sumac Road.

It is a single lane bridge and currently has a reduced load limit of 27 tonnes.

The works will remove the current load limit of the bridge and increase the resistance of the bridge towards major flood damage.

The bridge will be repaired in two stages:

*Stage one involves completing beam strengthening from scaffolding beneath the structure

*Stage two involves strengthening of the pier footings, replacing barriers and expansion joints, and repainting beams.

Traffic impacts

There will be short bridge closures for up to 15 minutes and a reduced speed limit will be in place during our working hours.

We will be working from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Please allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time during this work, keep to speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.

Timing

Stage one works will begin in March 2022, and we expect to complete the stage one work by mid-June 2022, weather permitting.

We will advertise a tender application for stage two works in late 2022.
