Lindsay River Bridge closure (Western Explorer)

In October 2021, an inspection conducted on Lindsay River Bridge found that one of the timber beams had suffered structural damage.

We did emergency repairs in November 2021 and reopened the bridge to light vehicles, with a load-limit of 5 tonnes placed on the bridge to keep all road users safe.

We are now doing permanent repairs to  Lindsay River Bridge, which involve:

• replacing old timber beams with new steel beams and a concrete deck above
• installing new steel barriers on the bridge and new safety barriers approaching the bridge.

The repairs to Lindsay River Bridge will:

• restore the bridge capacity to allow heavy vehicles (including motorhomes and caravans) to travel the most direct route between Corinna and Temma
• provide for continued use by residents, tourists and freight, now and into the future
• provide improved efficiency, and travel time reliability
• improve road safety for all road users.

Norfolk Road, part of the Western Explorer touring route,  is CLOSED at the Lindsay River Bridge at all times from 4 July 2022 until late August 2022.

From September the bridge will be open under traffic management until the project is finished in late September 2022.

We will be working from Monday to Sunday between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. 

We will let you know in advance if we need to do any work outside these times.
