About the project

We have finished building a new off-ramp to Westbury Road on the Bass Highway in Prospect Vale, as part of the Australian Road Safety program.

The new off-ramp connects on to the eastbound (heading towards Launceston) lanes of the Bass Highway between Westbury Road and Meander Valley Road.

The new off-ramp will make it easier and safer for people to exit the Bass Highway onto Westbury Road. T

The new off-ramp is now OPEN, and the old exit ramp is now CLOSED.

Timing

We started work on Monday 8 November 2021 and finished on 4 March 2022.

1New off-ramp traffic changes - March 2022

The new off-ramp from the Bass Highway onto Meander Valley Road is now open.

If you’re travelling along the Bass Highway from Devonport towards Launceston, you can now use the new off-ramp onto Meander Valley Road at Prospect Vale.

The new off-ramp connects the Bass Highway to Meander Valley Road, continuing on to Westbury Road. The off-ramp from the Bass Highway to Westbury Road is now closed.

The new off-ramp will allow more direct access to Prospect Vale, Prospect, Summer Hill, and Blackstone Heights.

When you reach the top of the off-ramp, you will be able to turn left onto Meander Valley Road to access Launceston or turn right onto Meander Valley Road to return to the Bass Highway towards Devonport. You will also have the option to go straight ahead to rejoin the Bass Highway towards the
Midland Highway, to access the Launceston CBD or Hobart.

There will be a reduced speed limit on the Bass Highway near the old off-ramp at Westbury Road as we work on this area for the first half of March 2022.
