Electronic Speed Limit Signs Upgrade
We are replacing almost 600 electronic speed limit signs in school zones around the state, which started from Monday, 29 November 2021.
The existing electronic speed limit signs have reached the end of their serviceable life, and this project will see upgraded replacement signs installed across the state.
We will start replacing signs in the North West of the state, including King Island and Flinders Island, before moving to the North, North East and South.
Our work will involve removing the existing signs, and then testing the new signs before installing them onto existing poles at each site.
We will be replacing the electronic speed limit signs from Monday, 29 November 2021.
We will be working Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 2:30 pm, outside of the usual school drop-off times, to minimise traffic and pedestrian impacts.
Each sign should take approximately three hours to install, and we expect to complete our work by August 2022.
Most of the electronic speed limit sign replacement work will be completed without any impact to pedestrians or road users.
In some locations, footpaths and traffic lanes may be closed and traffic management put in place for safety of pedestrians and road users.
Please follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
