Huon Link Road
The Tasmanian and Australian Governments have committed to building a link road that will reduce congestion and improve safety in Huonville’s town centre.
The Northern Route is also the Huon Valley Council’s preferred option.
We have chosen a route for the Huon Link Road following feedback from the community in early 2022.
Following community consultation and expert engineering and environmental assessments, the Northern Route has been chosen as the preferred alignment.
Responses received during community consultation showed 61 per cent preferred the northern route, which would run from Main Street, opposite Orchard Avenue, southeast to the top of Flood Road. The Northern Route is also the Huon Valley Council’s preferred option.

Community consultation on the new link road and the two proposed routes has now closed.
The consultation period was open from Tuesday, 18 January 2022 to Thursday, 10 February 2022.
Feedback can be viewed on the interactive ‘Route Options Map’ via social pinpoint.

The project team is continuing to work on a detailed design for the project.
The tender for construction will be advertised in late 2022.
