From Sunday 17 January 2021, changes to the North West public bus network will impact passengers travelling to the North West Regional Hospital and the Mersey Community Hospital.

Passengers wanting to travel to the North West Regional Hospital from Devonport, Ulverstone or Penguin can access the new, North West Express Service and travel through to the Burnie interchange at Cattley Street. From here, they can interchange onto the Route 194/195 Burnie loop service to travel to the North West Regional Hospital. The Route 194/195 Burnie loop services departs Cattley St every half hour on weekdays between 6.30am and 6.45pm. This service also operates on a less frequent basis on Saturdays and Sundays.

Passengers wanting to travel to the Mersey Community Hospital from Burnie, Penguin or Ulverstone can also access the new, North West Express Service and travel through to the Devonport interchange at Rooke Street. From here, they can interchange onto the Route 178 Latrobe service to travel to the Mersey Community Hospital. The Route 178 Latrobe service departs Rooke Street approximately every hour between 7.30am and 7.30pm on weekdays and Saturdays. This service also operates on a less frequent basis on Sundays.

Please note that passengers will need to use a Greencard to travel on the Route 194/195 Burnie loop service operated by Metro Tasmania. Passengers travelling on the North West Express Service or the Route 178 Latrobe service, operated by Merseylink, will need to use a Transportme smartcard.  Cash can also be used on board all services if passengers do not have a Greencard or Transportme smartcard.
