1What do I need to do to drive with a ride source platform?

To drive with a ride source platform, you need a PPV-other ancillary certificate and X-condition put onto your licence.

2Am I eligible to drive a ride source vehicle?

To be eligible, you must meet the ancillary certificate eligibility requirements, and:

  • nominate a ride source vehicle to be linked to your ancillary certificate (you can only drive with your nominated vehicle when operating as a ride source).
  • show that you understand the Road Rules and the legislative requirements for operating a PPV by reading and understanding the requirements, and make a declaration in your ride source application form.

3How long do you have until you have to renew your ancillary certificate?

Your PPV-Other ancillary certificate and X condition will be valid for 12 months. A renewal notice will be emailed to you before it expires.   Your nominated vehicle will have to undergo the required inspection.

4Requirements for keeping your PPV-Other ancillary certificate and X-condition?

To keep your certificate and licence condition, you’ll have to:

  • complete an annual medical declaration unless you have a medical condition that may affect your driving
  • supply an inspection report for your nominated ride source vehicle(s).

We can also request that you take a medical assessment more regularly or at any time.

5What are the requirements for my ride source vehicle?

Your nominated vehicle must:

  • be lighter than 4.5 tonnes
  • have a Tasmanian registration
  • be roadworthy
  • must be registered in the name of the ancillary certificate holder
  • pass a vehicle inspection and undertake annual inspections (you must contact your platform provider to ensure your vehicle meets their vehicle requirements)
  • display a vehicle inspection roadworthy label on the top left-hand corner of the front windscreen.

6How do I update or change my ride source vehicle?

To update or change your ride source vehicle, you must send ridesource@stategrowth.tas.gov.au the following:

  • A ride Source – vehicle change form
  • An inspection report.
