1What are my child’s ticketing options?

Cash Single-ticket

Students can purchase a single ride trip with cash from the bus driver. The cost per trip is $1.80.

Cash Multi-ticket

Students traveling on a bus service that does not offer electronic ticketing can purchase a 10-ride ticket. The maximum cost of a 10-ride ticket is $14.40.

10-ride tickets purchased in 2019 can still be used in 2020 provided that the student will be:

  • under 18, or turning 18 in 2020; and
  • a full time student (600+hours per year) enrolled at an education facility recognised by the Department of Education, TasTAFE, University of Tasmania or College of English.

Electronic ticketing

Students who travel on a service that uses electronic ticketing can pay using a smartcard which is electronically topped up with funds. To top up the balance of your smartcard please contact your bus service operator.

Students who use a smartcard to pay their fare receive a 20 per cent discount on the usual rate, making the maximum per trip cost $1.44 (including a 90 minute window from the first card validation to transfer to buses with the same operator to complete the journey).

To apply for a smartcard visit your bus service operator’s website.
