Permits and Bookings

It is important to maintain the safety and efficiency of the State Road Network. This means that if you want to undertake activity that may impact on a State road, you need a permit. No application fees apply.

Advertising a Community Event

If you want to advertise a community event by placing a temporary sign(s) in the State Road Reservation you will require approval from the Department of State Growth.

Mariners wishing to book a lift should use the following information and procedures.

Crown Landowner Consent

Where proposed developments require the use of Crown land you are required, under Section 52(1B) of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993, to include with the planning permit to Council the consent of the Minister responsible for the administration of the Crown land.

Denison Canal

The Denison Canal can be transited between the hours of 8.00 am and 5.00 pm but must be booked.

General Works (eg pathways, stock underpass)

If you want to undertake work in the State Road Reservation you will require approval from the Department of State Growth. Works can include (but are not limited to) general roadworks, maintenance, pathways, vegetation management, fencing, structures, footpath and kerb/channelling.  It also includes new or modifications to existing traffic signals, speed limits or road humps within the State Road Reservation.

New or Altered Access onto a Road (eg Driveway)

If you want an access (driveway) from your property onto a State road, or want to upgrade or modify an existing access, you will require approval from the Department of State Growth.

Organising a Public Event

If you want to use a State Road for a public event, you will require approval from the Department of State Growth.

Service Works (eg gas, water, electricity)

If you want to undertake service works in the State Road Reservation you will require approval from the Department of State Growth. Service works can include (but are not limited to) gas or electrical connections, watermains, stormwater/culverts and any pipework. This includes stormwater discharge onto the State Road network associated with service works for stormwater discharge.

Stormwater Discharge (only)

If you are not undertaking any works in the State Road reservation but propose to concentrate the natural drainage of the land onto the State road network you will require approval from the Department of State Growth.

Telecommunications

If you want to undertake telecommunication service works in the State Road Reservation you will require an agreement with the Department of State Growth.

Traffic Management

If you want to undertake traffic management in the State Road Reservation you will require approval from the Department of State Growth.
