Bass Highway west of Porters Bridge Road

The Tasmanian Government has committed funding to upgrade the Bass Highway on a 0.9 km section of the road, west of Porter’s Bridge Road overpass.  The works will involve removing the existing road surface, and replacing this with a new surface which will strengthen and improve the condition of the road.

About the project

Why are we doing work on this road?

The key objective of this project is to improve the condition of the road surface by addressing the identified pavement issues.

When will works take place?

Roadworks are expected to start in early January 2019, and will be finished by early March 2019, weather permitting.

Traffic management

The road works will be performed under an approved Traffic Management Plan by the contractor, Andrew Walter Constructions to ensure the least possible disruption to road users.  Speed restrictions and changed traffic conditions will be in place during the works to keep road users and construction staff safe.

Road users may experience delays and should allow extra time for travelling through the construction site. Please pay attention to traffic signs, and follow any directions from traffic controllers.
