Bridge Strengthening Works 2018/19

The Tasmanian Government is committed to strengthening Tasmanian bridges on key routes to retain the existing levels of service for heavy vehicle freight and community access.

Highland Lakes Road, Jordan River Bridge at Apsley

The Department of State Growth has started works to upgrade the bridge over the Jordan River at Apsley, on Highland Lakes Road.

Strengthening works started in late October and will be finished by December 2018. The work will be carried out underneath the bridge structure.

Traffic impacts

To keep workers and road users safe, changed traffic conditions and speed restrictions will be in place during the works. Please follow all signs and allow enough time for travelling through the work areas.

Piney Creek Bridge, Heemskirk Road

Piney Creek Bridge is located on Heemskirk Road, about 14 kms north of Zeehan on Tasmania's West Coast.

Strengthening works started in November 2018, and will be finished by the end of January 2019.

Traffic impacts

During works one lane will remain open to traffic with work being done underneath the bridge and on the bridge deck. To keep workers and road users safe, changed traffic conditions and speed restrictions will be in place during the works. Please follow all signs and allow enough time for travelling through the work area.

Farm Creek Bridge, Murchison Highway

Farm Creek Bridge is located on the Murchison Highway. Strengthening works started in November 2018 and will be complete by the end of January 2019.

Traffic impacts

Dundas Rivulet Bridge is located on the Zeehan Highway on Tasmania's West Coast. Strengthening works will start in early December 2018 and will be complete by the end of January 2019.

The two Leslie Station Creek Bridges are located in two locations on the Zeehan Highway, near the intersection with Murchison Highway. Strengthening works will start in early December 2018 and will be finished by the end of January 2019.
