Bridge Strengthening Works 2019/20

The Tasmanian Government is committed to strengthening Tasmanian bridges on key routes to retain the existing levels of service for heavy vehicle freight and community access.

Waterhouse Road, Hardwickes Creek Bridge

The Department of State Growth is replacing the bridge deck on Hardwickes Creek Bridge on Waterhouse Road north of Gladstone.

This work will make it safer, and increase capacity for heavy vehicles. During the work, we will use cranes to lift components into place for the new concrete bridge deck.

We will start work on 13 May 2019 and will be finished by the end of June 2019.

Traffic impacts

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the safety of workers and road users. Because of the nature of the deck replacement, a temporary bridge bypass will be in place for vehicles during the works.

Please keep to speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
