Evandale Road duplication - Launceston Airport for Breadalbane
The Tasmanian Government has started planning work to upgrade Evandale Road to four lanes, from the entrance to the Launceston Airport to the Breadalbane roundabout.
About the project
The project is located on Evandale Road, from the entrance to the Launceston Airport to the Breadalbane roundabout. The stretch of road is about 1.9 kilometres long.

Why is the Department of State Growth doing work on this road?
The Tasmanian Government has committed $5.5 million to continue upgrades on Evandale Road as part of the “Roads Package to Support Tasmania’s Visitor Economy”.
The existing section of Evandale Road is two-lanes. It is a major freight route and gateway from the airport for tourists visiting northern Tasmania. More people are using the road, as the number of tourists visiting the region continues to grow.
During this project we will upgrade the single lane carriageway to four lanes. This will improve safety for visitors and locals by improving traffic flow and access to the airport. It will also improve safety for heavy vehicles accessing nearby transport businesses.
The works will also improve the roadside amenity, and give the best first impression for visitors travelling from the airport.
Detailed planning for the project is underway. Concept designs will be made available to the community in mid-2019.
