Fortescue Bay Road Upgrades

The Tasmanian Government has committed funding through the Visitor Economy Roads Package to make improvements to Fortescue Bay Road.

About the project

We will be upgrading about 12 km of Fortescue Bay Road, from the Arthur Highway to the Parks and Wildlife Tasman Peninsula Field Office and Visitors Centre.

During this project we will be re-sheeting the gravel road (adding new gravel to the road, grading and compacting), improving drainage and installing guide posts and signage.

This project will improve the condition and safety of Fortescue Bay Road, which provides public access to the Three Capes Track and surrounding areas.

Works started on Monday 14 October 2019, and should finish by the end of February 2020, weather permitting.

There will be some temporary traffic changes to keep our workers and all road users safe.

There will be lane closures and a reduced speed limit in place during our working hours, 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Saturday

Please keep to speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
