Hastings Caves Road Sealing

The Tasmanian Government has allocated funds to seal Hastings Caves Road, as a part of Tasmania’s Visitor Economy Roads Package. This work involves sealing the unsealed sections of Hastings Caves Road.

About the project

This project will improve accessibility and safety for tourists and commuters by sealing the road surface.Work will be carried out in two stages over a two year period, weather permitting.

The first stage of works was completed in summer 2018/2019. During the first stage Hastings Caves Road was sealed from Lune River Road to the Visitor Information Centre.

The second stage of works stared in September 2019 and is expected to be complete by the end of January 2020.

Traffic conditions

During working hours shuttle buses will operate from the Hastings Caves Visitor Centre to take visitors through the work site to Hastings Caves for booked tours.

Visitors are advised to arrive at the Visitor Centre at least 45 minutes before their cave tour starting time.
