Lyell Highway Hamilton to Ouse - Shoulder Sealing
The Tasmanian Government allocated funding for shoulder sealing on the Lyell Highway.
The work will take place on approximately 4 kilometres of road between Hamilton and Ouse.
Why is the Department of State Growth doing work on this road?
The objective of this project is to make the road safer for all road users by adding sealed shoulders.
Sealed shoulders reduce run-off road crashes by providing additional space for the driver to recover control of a vehicle that has drifted out of the travel lane.
The Lyell Highway is a key strategic passenger, freight and tourism route between Hobart and Queenstown.
Works started on 6 January 2020, and should be complete by May 2020.
There will be a reduced speed limit and frequent lane closures during our working hours, 7:00 am - 6:00 pm.
Please slow down, approach the area with caution, and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
