Standardised bridge superstructure design
The Tasmanian Government has committed to funding the duplication of Evandale Road between the Launceston Airport and Breadalbane as part of the Roads Package to Support Tasmania’s Visitor Economy.
The standard design will enable a cost-effective solution to be produced by the Tasmanian precast industry. This will make the design process more efficient, and make it easier to provide a timely response after an emergency.
The design may also be adopted for use in suitable bridge replacements undertaken by Tasmanian infrastructure owners.
A Design Guide, which includes information about the process of designing, constructing and maintaining a bridge that includes a standardised rectangular plank superstructure was also developed.
You can download the Design Drawings and Design Guide below.
Note: The Standardised Plank Design is limited to the bridge superstructure. A site specific design is required for the substructure (abutments, columns/walls, or footings/piles).
