L1 Logbook Hours

30 hours in L1

All new L1 drivers will need to log at least 30 hours of supervised driving in a logbook before moving to L2.

The more supervised driving hours you get, the safer you will be when you start driving on your own.

To help get the 30 hours in L1, you can:

  • attend a Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) program and gain 5 hours for your L1 logbook
  • get a 1 hour lesson with a certified driving instructor and gain 2 hours for your L1 logbook. This is capped at 10 lessons.

If you already have an L1 licence, it will be different.  The FAQs have more information for current licence holders.
