Tasmanian Truck and Dog Trailer Combination Network Map

View the Tasmanian Truck and Dog Trailer Network

This Class 3 network shows roads mapped in three categories: Approved (green), Conditionally Approved (orange) and Restricted (red). Click on a route or bridge to show any conditions that apply.

The network shows roads which can be accessed by Class 3 truck and dog trailer heavy vehicle combinations which exceed 50t gross mass1 or 21m overall length2 and comply with the Tasmania Class 3 Heavy Vehicle Truck and Dog Trailer Combination Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice 2019.

Maximum dimension and masses for this network are 25m overall length, 4.3m overall height3, 60.5t4 gross mass, with 16.5t for a tandem axle group and 20t for a tri-axle group, except if the road is also part of the Tasmanian Approved Increased Mass Limits Route Network, in which case the combination maximum mass increases to 62.0t gross mass, with 17t for a tandem axle group and 22.5t for a tri-axle group.

Restricted structures (red dots) must not be crossed.

Roads not shown as approved (green) or conditionally approved (orange) require road manager approval for access by permit. Application for access by permit is to be made through the NHVR. It is permitted to travel off route if the road is marked with detour signage.

Operators must check for road closures and road conditions prior to travel to ensure clear passage. For roads managed by Department of State Growth this information is available on the Department of State Growth website and by selecting the “Show State Growth Road Works” button on this map.

Increased Mass Limits (IML) Roads

Roads which are part of the Tasmanian Approved Increased Mass Limits Route Network can be superimposed using the “Show IML Network” Button.

Over the IML network, Class 3 truck and dog trailer heavy vehicle combinations which comply with the Tasmania Class 3 Heavy Vehicle Truck and Dog Trailer Combination (Increased Mass Limits) Mass Exemption Notice 2019 can operate at up to 62.0t gross mass, 17.0t for a tandem axle group, and 22.5t for a tri-axle group.

A class 3 truck and dog trailer operating at IML which exceeds 21.0m in length2 cannot operate over the Tasmanian Approved Increased Mass Limits Route Network unless the road is also part of the Tasmanian Truck and Dog Trailer Combination Route Network or access has been granted by permit.
