However there were several exemptions that remained in the Vehicle Operations Notice. These exemptions included certain OSOM vehicles, Higher Mass Limits (HML), Unladen Low Loaders and Agricultural vehicles.
The Vehicle Operations Notice expired on the 30 November 2016 and while it has been remade, it now only applies to dimension exemptions for light vehicles i.e. vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) not greater than 4.5 tonnes.
From 1 December 2016 the heavy vehicle exemptions that were in the Vehicle Operations Notice were replaced by several notices issued under the HVNL.
The following table shows those exemptions in the Vehicle Operations Notice that have now transferred to the HVNL and the name of the new notice. These Notices can be viewed on the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) website (under the Tasmania Section) at;

Networks
Each Notice, except the Tasmania Class 1 Agricultural vehicle Dimension Exemption Notice 2016), refers to a network map showing where the vehicle can be used. The relevant map can be found here.
For oversize over mass and unladen Low loader exemptions the network map will show the same level of access that previously existed in the Vehicle Operations Notice; however, this will be for a transitional period of three (3) years (i.e. to December 2019).
The map also provides a link to a “future state” map which is subject to ongoing Road Manager assessment. It will be updated overtime to show the network that will apply from 1 December 2019.
Operators should continually check the network and are encouraged to discuss any concerns with the relevant Road Manager.
