This rebate is designed to offset some of the transport costs that you may incur when travelling to mainland Tasmania to access services.

1Who is eligible?

To be eligible, you must:

  • be 65 years of age or over
  • live on a Bass Strait Island
  • be the holder of either a:
    • Centrelink issued Pensioner Concession Card endorsed with ‘AGE’ for Age Pension
    • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card.
  • have already booked, paid for, and undertaken your return trip.

2Prepare to apply

You will need:

  • your name, date of birth and contact details
  • concession card details
  • flight information
  • bank account details.

You’ll also need to provide these documents to support your application:

  • Evidence that you are aged 65 years or over, such as your driver licence or birth certificate.
  • Proof of residency on a Bass Strait Island, such as your driver licence or a utility bill.
  • Your itinerary or tax invoice for the flights.

3Start application

Complete the Application for Bass Strait Islands Age Pension Air Travel Subsidy form.

Submit your completed application form and supporting documents in person, at any Service Tasmania Shop.

Service Tasmania will make a copy of your application and supporting documents. Please keep a copy until you receive a response from the Department of State Growth.

Your application may take up to four weeks to be assessed and then you will receive a letter with the outcome.
