This Class 2 network shows roads mapped in three categories: Approved (green), Conditionally Approved (orange) and Restricted (red). Click on a route or bridge to show any conditions that apply.
The network shows access for PBS Level 2A compliant 3 or 4 axle rigid trucks towing a 3, 4 or 5 axle dog trailer operating under the National Class 2 PBS Level 1 & 2A Truck and Dog Trailer Authorisation Notice 2024. The network may also describe access for other PBS compliant combinations if stated in their permit.
Restricted structures (red dots) must not be crossed.
Roads not shown as approved (green) or conditionally approved (orange) require road manager approval for access by permit. Application for access by permit is to be made through the NHVR. It is permitted to travel off route if the road is marked with detour signage.
Operators must check for road closures and road conditions prior to travel to ensure clear passage. For roads managed by the Department of State Growth, this information is available by selecting “Road Works - State Roads" via the "Map Layers" icon on this map.
General roadwork information is available at the State Growth website.
Higher Mass Limits (HML) Roads
Roads which are part of the Tasmanian Declared HML Route Network can be superimposed on the map by selecting “HML Advisory layer” via the "Map Layers" icon.
Unless otherwise stated in a permit:
- An approved PBS 2A combination cannot operate over the HML network unless the road also appears on the PBS 2A network map.
- The applicable HML gross combination mass and individual HML axle group masses are those which pass using Tier 1 Bridge assessment methodology, as stated in the vehicles’ PBS Design Approval document.
