View the HML Network Map

This network shows roads mapped in three categories: Approved (green), Conditionally Approved (orange) and Restricted (red).  Click on a route or bridge to show any conditions that apply.

The Tasmanian HML network shows access for eligible heavy vehicles operating under the Tasmania Higher Mass Limits Declaration 2021. It does not allow access for:

  • Truck and Dog trailer combinations - this is provided via the relevant Truck and Dog Trailer network,
  • Approved Performance-Based Standards (PBS) combinations unless the road also appears on the applicable PBS network map for the combination, in which case the Tier 1 Bridge assessment HML masses are applicable.
  • B-doubles that exceed 21.0 metres1 unless the road also appears on the 23m or 26m B-double network map.

Restricted structures (red dots) must not be crossed.

Roads not shown as approved (green) or conditionally approved (orange) require road manager approval for access by permit.  Application for access by permit is to be made through the NHVR. It is permitted to travel off route if the road is marked with detour signage or if directed by an authorised officer.

Operators must check for road closures and road conditions prior to travel to ensure clear passage.  For roads managed by Department of State Growth this information is available by selecting “Road Works - State Roads" via the "Map Layers" icon on this map.

General roadwork information is available at the State Growth website.
